Meet John Fontenot

Meet John Fontenot, our boat driver for the week. It was hot yesterday, about 90 degrees, so John arrived in his bathing suit today. He’s Cajun French and grew up in south Lousiana. Today, he lives in Dallas.

John makes a living as a corporate asset reliability engineer. When I asked for an explanation, he said he makes sure people are using the systems correctly.

“I’m the guy who shows up and says, ‘I’m from corporate and I’m here to help.'”

He’s building a house in Toledo Bend, and fishes about 70 days a year. That includes 12 or 13 tournaments, many with the Texas B.A.S.S. Nation.

“When I was younger I fished Toledo Bend about 42 weekends a year,” he said. “My wife didn’t like that much, but I told her she could take up fishing.”
