Lefebre is shaking

Dave Lefebre has landed his “best one this week.” that he estimates to weigh “maybe six, definitely over five” pounds.
“Man, I still love fishing,” Lefebre said on Bassmaster LIVE. “It makes me shake. Anything that makes you shake is good.”

Added Lefebre with a laugh, ” Actually, it’s probably not good.”

As noted in an earlier blog today, Lefebre has come to realize that rather than post-spawn bass, the fish in his area are pre-spawn. He held up the big one to the camera and said, “Tell me that’s not a pre-spawn fish.”

Another significant point is that Lefebre caught that bass in lily pads. He called a bass caught from the lily pads yesterday, “The most important bite of my day.”

There’s a lot of different structure to fish in this big area, and catching one from the lily pads simply added another significant one to the list.

“I can’t (fish the lily pads) unless I have a limit,” Lefebre said. “It takes too long to get a bite. I fished them for 45 minutes (Friday) and caught that four-pounder. Then I fished another 45 minutes and caught another four-pounder.”

Lefebre has a limit weighing 15-11, according to BASSTrakk, which has him right on the heels of leader Takahiro Omori, Most importantly, he’s got time – lots and lots of time – until his 3 p.m. check-in.
