The Big O delivers

Forty-seven.

That’s the total number of bass weighing over 5 pounds caught on Day 1. And that’s pretty remarkable considering all of the smack-talking the anglers – and we media – did about Okeechobee being off. Dirty water or not, too little vegetation or just enough, this lake is a big bass fishery.

Here’s a breakdown from the Day 1 data log from BASSTrakk

1: 9-pounder

4: 8-pounders

9: 7-pounders

10: 6-pounders

23: 5-pounders

In our blogging and stat reporting we often draw comparisons based on the heaviest limits caught. Yesterday there were 10 limits caught weighing more than 20 pounds. It’s also impressive to spin the numbers this way, too, showing just how many big bass are being caught in this tournament, even in a single day.
