Day 2 surpasses Day 1

If you followed BASSTrakk Friday, particularly the Twitter feed, you got the impression bass fishing was better on Day 2 than it was on Day 1 for the Elite Series anglers. The totals at the conclusion of the Day 2 weigh-in made that notion a fact:

                                                Day 1                         Day 2

Bass weighed in                     400                             470

Average weight                      1.95 lbs.                      2.08 lbs.

No. of limits                             58                                75

Big bass                                  8-9                              7-10

Big bag                                   19-11                           24-7

No one topped John Murray’s 8-pound, 9-ounce big bass from Thursday or Kelly Jordon’s 8-5, but Jordon got close with his 7-10 Friday, and Brett Hite caught a 6-11, plus leader Britt Myers had a 6-8. Hite matched Carl Jocumsen’s 19-11 Day 1 tournament-leading bag with one of his own on Day 2. Britt Myers (21-7) and Kelly Jordon (24-7) topped it.

What does that mean for today? Not much. The differences in the two days might simply be attributed to the one-hour storm delay on Thursday. Plus, this is a tidal  fishery, where yesterday carries minimal influence into today. So consider this just for the record.
