Lots is going on behind the scenes at the set of Bassmaster Classic Live: Championship Sunday. So much information is coming in from the lake that it takes extra effort to feed the facts to hosts Mark Zona, Tommy Sanders and analyst Davy Hite.
That job is handled by Mike Suchan of JM Associates. Suchan’s laptop has all of the available telemetry available for review. Today other resources will come into play and Suchan will help fill a big hole in the technology.
Edwin Evers is so far up the Elk River that cell phone coverage is spotty at best. And there’s not enough bandwidth to carry the digital signal of his on-board camera. That means Suchan is getting information relayed via cell phone from Steve Bowman and Jim Sexton, who are there for Bassmaster.com. Suchan wears a headset with an open mic allowing him to feed information to the audience when important news breaks.
