AOY: You are always on my mind

I think about it every minute I’m not on the water and some of the time that I am. I try to find distractions to keep it off of my mind, but it’s hard not thinking about it.

I had a great time at the Skeeter Owner’s tournament, and I was very blessed to have drawn out a very special lady. Her name is Evelyn Theinpont, and she’s never missed an owner’s tournament. That means that she’s made it to all 18 of them, and she’s 73 years old. However, she fishes like a 20-year old. It was a one fish tournament, and she caught the fish that we weighed. Getting to spend time with her vas very special.

Well, Day One of practice on the Arkansas River is over now, and I’ve got to admit, it was a tough day. To say that the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year race isn’t distracting me would be less than truthful.

I think about it every minute I’m not on the water and some of the time that I am. I try to find distractions to keep it off of my mind, but it’s hard not thinking about it, especially since the race is so close. This is a big, big tournament, so for now I’ve got to focus on practice.

I’m going to check different water today than I did yesterday, and hopefully I’ll have a positive report for next week and be in good shape in terms of the Angler of the Year race.

Stay tuned!
