“I have been winging it the whole time,” is the quote made by leader Wesley Strader. It’s actually possible to wing it here, and under these conditions, come from anywhere in this Top 12 and win the tournament.
Only about 8 pounds separates the 12 place angler (Bobby Lane) from Strader. Of course, those standings are shaking up as I write this post. However, the irony is that anyone indeed can come from behind and win this tournament. Chad Morgenthaler proved that last year by overcoming a 9-pound deficit to win.
One thing is for certain. Depending on how much cloud cover comes in the water temperature will rise depending on the solar heat put out by the Florida sunshine. Only a degree or more can set off a wave of movement—and and fishing activity—on a day like today. So winging it is not such a bad thing. Being in the right place at the right time is a great thing.
