Bass Fishing for Beginners: The Rod

More Britt Myers on selecting your first rod and reel

As we put this video series together, I try and keep focused on who it may really be for. Who out there wants a shot at catching just one bass.

Of course I’m the one who has said, “Just one bass is the goal.” Well I’m kind of sneaky. I know there’s a good chance that if you follow the steps and catch your first bass, chances are that one won’t be enough. If you end up catching 3 or 4, you’re in trouble. You may be the one who got hooked.

But still, who are you.

My thought is, you’re a 12 year old boy, and shame on me for automatically thinking that. First of all you could very well be a young girl, or young lady. If you look closely at each of the segments, you’ll see that a female could handle every step just as easily as a male.

In some cases, easier.

Wait a minute though. You just might be a young adult, taken a shot at something you’ve always thought about. There was never anyone in your life to be a “fishing role model”, so all you ever did was just dream about doing what those guys on television do, and now’s your chance.

The candidate for this, would be an angler, looking for his first bass, is all over the map. However I’m counting on this person, when you get right down to it, to be a guy, or gal, in their mid 30’s who has a youngster say from 6 to 12.

This 30 something person would love for their young child to catch one bass, but they don’t have a clue as to how you would do this.

WOW – have you ever come to the right place.

You can both learn at the same time, even share the equipment if you so choose.

Both of you catching your first bass together would be a dream come true for me.

Please let me know how your adventure is going.
